WT shunning has the undesired effect of creating hordes of double agents. (Undesired by the Org.) People who don't give a shit about being a JW, they only want their rights to family inclusion and a place in polite society with their friends. It is a farce that hurts the Watchtower more than they know. How many have you known who only came back to have family association and then faded into subtle apostasy? I've read of many on here.

What does shunning acomplish?
by poopie inwell in order to shun someone you must dehumanize them much like what occurred in slavery.
dehumanizing someone now allows you treat them worst then an animal.
and now you can justify ignoring them there not human anymore.

They forgot to mention the danger of "Pillow talk". Once you go down that road there's no coming back. -

Can anyone name a single incident when bethel has fed the poor ever ?
by Chook incharity is lacking from the house of god.
i remember reading once about some young pioneer sisters who needed emergency accommodation and where turn away from brooklyn because they weren’t special pioneers.
charity begins at home..

“Otherwise, some may associate with us only for personal advantage.”" What the hell do they think all these converts are there for? For the personal advantage of not being slaughtered by Jeheebie in the big "A".

A spy's life is a lonely one
by LevelThePlayingField inso i have been awake since about this time in 2013, so about 5 years.
and the craziest thing about it is that now, no one, and i mean no one know's i am an apostate.
meaning, that i don't believe the jw minds set/beliefs at all, and no one knows it.

Every day that passes is one less to live. If you are content with the situation then just put up with it. If it is not satisfactory then I would make a plan to ease out. There are hard choices to be made, but what would you do to capture your days back and live them honestly? I feel for you. Good luck. -

"I love you. You are my best friend. But I don't think a marriage would work between us. I don't want to ruin what we have by making this a relationship."
Ruin what? His guilt free sex romp. You are the cow and he doesn't want to pay for the milk. Once you investigate JW's you will see that it is a controlling cult, not unlike Mr. Wrong. Wander off.

Younger Witnesses less fanatical or fundamental
by optimisticskeptic ini am a born in jw for over 30 years now and have been in various positions in the organization.
now i'm guessing most of us recognize that older generations tend to be more fundamental and less reasonable when it comes to their outlook and beliefs.
i find this to mirror the differences you see outside of the organization as well (older people less tolerant of other religions, newer technology, lgbt, etc.).

Well, maybe. They don't seem to mind Trump having sex with any woman that stands still for over a minute.
At least he gets a pass on grabbing you know what.

Deliberately Avoiding the "G" and "L" words in their Videos
by steve2 innow that we have had a "sneak" preview of some of the videos for the upcoming 2018 jw regional conventions, we have opportunity to stand back and ponder their content, including their use of language - or in this case, their avoidance of certain words.
in this post, i focus on what i think is a "quaint", if not peculiar, avoidance of certain words that seems to have become a jw organization practice: they avoid use of the actual words "gay" or "lesbian" in any of the videos - even in people playing the roles of being gay- or lesbian-friendly.
a case in point is the preview of the video featuring the jw woman purchasing an item in a store where wrist bands are given away with purchases.

Gay is a lifestyle, homosexuality is a sexual preference. To attack "Gay" is to attack a movement. I think they want to emphasize their view of a biblical prohibition of same sex acts without the political fallout of attacking a movement. Its all about the orifice, baby!

Reflecting On The JW Version Of You
by pale.emperor inlately i've been thinking over how far i've come over the last 2.5 years since leaving the cult.
when i first left i remember not knowing who i really was and what my beliefs and values were.
previously my values and beliefs were dictated to me the the governing body in watchtower magazines.. i'm politically active, being a member of a political party and i'm even considering running in my local election in a few years.. when it comes to religion, im an atheist who has little time for superstition and "god did it" answers to complex questions.

JW me: I recently read a letter I wrote my parents about their possible deaths at Armageddon. I was so loving about how they would die and not be there with us kids. They were good, law abiding citizens, generous and loving and I was full of shit. That letter truly showed how deluded I was. What a drone I was for the GB.
Me now: They are dead anyway of advanced age and illness. Here I am looking my own mortality in the eye feeling betrayed by my own credulity. Even so, I am not bitter or angry. I do dislike the religion and will expose it at every opportunity so as to protect others. I have my loves and joys. Things are good.

As I understand it, only anointed were considered "Jehovah's Witnesses" and the "Jonadabs" or "Great Multitude" were not. Can anyone confirm this from literature? This was the situation initially I am certain.
